Florence + the Machine “Cosmic Love” Halloween Boston Show

Without question the best live show I have ever seen, Florence + the Machine had the crowd absolutely mesmerized during her Halloween show in Boston this weekend. Her voice’s sweet, syrupy quality has an unmatched strength, instantly paralyzing listeners in a gripping emotional vice. She’s easily the best new artist of 2010 and my top personal favorite from the moment I first found her in 2009. Florence’s completely original, eclectic music style causes critics to struggle when attempting to accurately categorize her genre. Simply put, she’s destined for huge stardom and international acclaim.

The Cities 97 annual cd series is a hidden gem produced by the Minneapolis radio station featuring acoustic sessions of noteworthy artists from the year. Locals endure long lines in the bitter November cold for their chance to buy one of the roughly 35,000 cds which are snatched up in a few short hours. Artists include the likes of Jack Johnson, Sarah McLachlan, David Gray, Missy Higgins, A Fine Frenzy and many others from similar genres. In true mid-west fashion, all proceeds from the highly successful project benefit surrounding charities.
